Zach Galifianakis Joins Disney’s Live-Action ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Movie
The new film, which is slated to stream on Disney+, features Galifianakis in an unnamed part.
Dean Fleischer Camp, whose "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On" is up for best animated film at the upcoming 95th Academy Awards, is directing the adaptation.
The live-action picture comes after the popular family animated film from 2002, which brought in $273 million worldwide.
The main characters of Lilo & Stitch are 6-year-old Lilo and her adolescent sister Nani, who reside in Hawaii and foster Stitch, a blue extraterrestrial creature that is both endearing and occasionally a little destructive.
Lilo and Nani's performers are allegedly being sought out widely by the company, while CGI will, of course, be used to create Stitch.
The new film is being made by the Rideback duo of Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with executive producer Ryan Halprin.
He was hired, and The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report it.
Galifianakis received two Primetime Emmy Awards for the popular short-form series "Between Two Ferns".
He is a five-time nominee and he also received praise for his leading part on FX's "Baskets" (which he also co-created) and also for hosting "Saturday Night Live."
