Nashali Alma was lifting weights like any other day before she opened the door for a man she assumed wanted to use the gym. However, this guy had other ideas.

Authorities in Florida published a video on Wednesday showing incident that happened in a gym last month as a woman fought off an alleged attacker who was later convicted of kidnapping and other felonies.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office released an edited surveillance footage that shows Nashali Alma, 24, letting a man they later identified as Xavier Thomas-Jones, 25, into her gym on January 22.

Alma is grabbed by a man in the footage as he approaches her close to a weight set.

As soon as he approached me, I said, ‘Bro, what the eff are you doing?” she explained. “ ‘Get away from me. Stop trying to touch me’.”

In the footage, Alma can be seen dodging him and then swiping a phone and fists in his face before being forced to the ground.

Alma fled to a nearby apartment as the man looked to give up as she continued to try to fend him off and dial 911.

Thomas-Jones was apprehended by authorities in less than 24 hours. According to court documents, he was accused of kidnapping and sexual assault by an adult.

Never give up, is the advice I offer," Alma said. "I think it's possible as long as you don't give up, if you prove to him that you are strong, that you can fight back, survive, and get out of the situation," she said.

Thomas-Jones was being held without bond, according to jail documents. A request for feedback on Thursday went unanswered by his attorney.
